How I’ve Come to Know the Prince of Peace

In Jamaica, you know it’s Easter time when supermarkets start stocking up on Easter bun and cheese. Today I bought some myself, but telling you how good it was is not why I’m writing this post. I wanted to talk a little about Jesus Christ, whose resurrection we commemorate during this time of the year. I know many of us have heard of Him but I’d like to share how it feels to know Him personally.

Hope for Our Women

I can’t sleep. My heart is heavy. I’ve tried to block the horrors of the news from seeping in but my heart is remembering. A fifteen year old girl is dead and so many more of our women here in Jamaica and across the world are suffering.

What Are You Most Grateful for this Christmas?

‘Tis the season to be jolly… for unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given.

Christmas is truly the most wonderful time of the year! As I reflect on my blessings this past year, I can’t help but recognise God’s hand in my life. It’s the perfect time to reflect even more on the greatest gift of all which God had given us, even Jesus Christ His Son. As you look back on 2015 can you also see the Saviour’s hand in your life?

Guess what? Today is Christmas Eve, which means my hubby and I celebrate 3 years of wedded bliss (I’m not saying things have been perfect but they sure have been rewarding and worth every moment of sacrifice). So yes, it’s a special time for us. My hope this Christmas is to spend some quality time with my family but most of all never forget the meaning of the season.

Vacation’s Over

Dear friends,

I’m back from vacation abroad. It was a joyous time with a few surprises in the mix like my sister giving birth 3 weeks early, just in time for me to meet my latest niecy, Zahra. I saw the snow, wet as rain, kiss Brooklyn streets, watched city boys perform kicking dance moves in the tight spaces of subways. I gorged on yogurt, dried craisins and mixed nuts, snacks I think should be far more affordable in Jamaica and ate a bit of fast food in my attempt to put on a few pounds :).

7 Ways to Improve Your Relationship with Christ this Easter

Summertime1

6 pm (Fri)

It’s that time of the year again when we reflect upon the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. For years, I felt exuberant during this season because of my two-week hiatus from school. That and the bun and cheese of course—a Jamaican Easter tradition.  But as I’ve become older and more mature I’ve sought to truly reflect upon the meaning of Easter and how I could use this time to strengthen my relationship with the Saviour of the world.
